About Lenora

Hello! My name is Lenora Porter and I am a Senior User Experience Designer who plays in the rare unicorn space as a hybrid Front End Engineer. In 2015, I transitioned into my first UX role after attending a coding boot camp. In my experience, I didn’t feel as though my coding boot camp helped me learn the tools I really needed to learn. I received so many “no’s” or “you don’t have experience” so I went on a journey to teach myself. I had prior design and psychology knowledge, so I felt an easier path would be User Experience Design so I used books and online courses to ramp up. Before transitioning into tech, I was a High School Math Teacher who created beautiful oil paintings in my spare time. Design/Creativity came natural so learning the visual aspect of UX, using my prior knowledge of psychology (University of Florida ‘14 Psychology Major), and the coding Bootcamp experience, I finally made way into the industry of my dreams. Currently, I am hybrid Senior Product Designer/ Front End Engineer working at Salesforce for the Heroku team. When I am not working, I’m curating design and front-end content to share amongst my social platforms. My mission is to inspire other women and minorities to take a bold leap into the world of tech. Tech doesn’t thrive on software engineers alone; it needs those sympathetic, art-focused individuals to keep things above water. With natural talent, determination, and resilience, I believe anyone can transform the world one app at a time through design.
