Sarah celebrated her birthday!

Sarah turned 27 and celebrated it with the most epic cake ever!

Happy birthday, Sarah! I hope you’ve had a wonderful day filled with love and warm moments! Very excited to see what this year brings you, you absolute badass ❤️

27th Birthday in Quarantine🎉! . Although this year is quite different with how I will be celebrating my birthday, I can say that I already feel the love around me from all my friends and family. I may not be able to celebrate with people in the flesh, but I sure as hell am grateful I can celebrate through technology 💗🙏🏼. . This year, since I have a TON of time on my hands, I took to TikTok and asked everyone to give me suggestions for how I should celebrate my birthday in quarantine. The top liked comment was to bake a cake in the share of an Erlenmeyer flask! So… that’s exactly what your girl did! Let me just say, this was A LOT harder than I expected 😅 and I have so much more respect for cake bakers out there 🎂 🙈! . Nonetheless baking this cake made me feel like a kid again and took to burn off of turning 27🙈😩. . . . . #birthdaygirl #quarantinebirthday #birthdaycake #birthday #science #birthdaycakes

Kaylee accepted a new job offer!

She transitioned to a different team within her company, taking head-on all of the challenges that quarantine brings with this move.

That’s incredibly brave and exciting, Kaylee! We are all super excited for you and can’t wait to hear your learnings from this transition and the role itself. You go, girl!

Exciting announcement!! . . For those of you who read my last post you got a mini sneak peak but I have officially started on a new team within my company!! . . Transitioning mid-social distancing/remote working is really different and I was super anxious about it so I thought I would share with you all some of the thoughts I had as I wrapped up with my old team and prepped for my transition. . . Hopefully those of you who are about to be in similar positions whether it's switching teams, jobs, or even starting a new job will find it helpful! Lauren‘s baby, Science Scribbles turned 1!

This is so exciting, Lauren, congratulations! Hard work always pays off and I’m sure you’re so happy you took action when you first had the idea of starting this journey 😍 I’m in love with your designs!!

Science Scribbles turned 1️⃣ today 🎈🎉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That’s 1 whole year of teaching myself how to use adobe illustrator, investing my own time and money into creating designs and having them manufactured into real life products, and lots of time spent packing and posting orders! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What initially started as a little side hustle during the final year of my PhD has turned into much more than that. It’s become a great creative outlet for me and a way to advocate for things I’m passionate about 😊 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To celebrate this little milestone, @science.scribbles is hosting an anniversary giveaway 💫✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Details on how to enter can be found on the latest @science.scribbles post 🥰

#ReactResiliently – Handling Comparison-Induced Self Doubt – created by Shreya

Shreya says:

“Have you ever checked LinkedIn to find that an old classmate has been promoted in their job and found yourself feeling “behind the curve?” This slide set provides readers with a valuable paradigm shift to help handle these thoughts and shift them to focus on a more productive outlet.”

~~ #ReactResiliently – Handling Comparison-Induced Self Doubt ~~⁣ .⁣ .⁣ •••⁣ Happy May, everyone! Today we’re talking about comparison. It’s extremely easy and unfortunately common to see the highlight reel of other’s lives and use it as a basis for comparing our own lives. 🤯Let me focus on a more specific instance of this — have you ever seen a friend, old classmate, or even second degree acquaintance update their social media with news of a promotion and found yourself feeling “left behind” or inadequate? 😳⁣ •••⁣ This can be a really hard thing to admit, and I’ll be the first to (not-so-proudly) say that I’ve felt this way in the past. 🥺 But as we know, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” So let’s figure out why we’re observing this thought process. ⁣ •••⁣ Here’s a metaphor that really resonated with me — in the music industry, there are plenty of successful artists. I’m going to use the example of Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift, both powerful female singers in American pop. 🤑 One’s journey involved lead acting on multiple TV shows, while the other was previously known for performing music in another genre. Even though both had vastly different paths, they’re both icons in today’s music world. ⁣ ⁣ In much the same way, you and whoever you’re comparing yourself with will have vastly different journeys — and chances are, your goals for your future aren’t even the same as their future goals! 🤓 Which makes the comparison mentality even less founded! ⁣ •••⁣ If you have it in you, take a moment — once you’re in a better headspace — to remember just one of this person’s positive traits. Use that energy to extend a genuine congratulatory message to them. 🤗 If you’d rather not, that’s okay too! Note how this made you feel and continue working on your own journey. It’s really as simple as that! 🤩⁣ •••⁣ Have a tricky situation of your own that you’d like to maneuver resiliently? Head over to the link in my bio to submit a #ReactResiliently request! ✨⁣ •••⁣ .⁣ .⁣ #reactresiliently #womenintech #empower #motivate #blue #vsco #virtual #react #tech #promotion #software #code #coder #friend #softwareengineer #wfh #girlpower #woman #women #girl #girls#girls

☁️ What is a word cloud? ☁️⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’ve been obsessed with this type of data visualization since I first got into data science, and I finally learned how to use it!⁣ Luckily, Python has a killer Wordcloud library we can take advantage of. ⁣⁣ ⁣ If you want a full, follow-along tutorial, with all of the code required to clean the data and build this new visualization, check out the article in my bio 🤓💻
