How did you get into tech?

Ever since I was a kid I was fascinated by websites and software. In middle school, we used to have a “How to use the computer” class where we would learn about MS Suite, Paint and other basic tasks you would do on a computer about 15 years ago. My teacher picked up on my passion and she signed me up for a programming course at our local library, saying it’s up to me if I want to go or not. I said, why not?

We started learning pseudocode and the Pascal programming language. I challenged myself even more and started to attend local and national programming competitions and olympiads. I continued studying this field at one of the best high-schools in my county at an Intensive Computer Science and Math track. I also wanted to study abroad, so after high-school, I moved to Denmark where I got my double Bachelor degrees in Software and Web Development.

I studied a lot of programming in school which built a good foundation for me when it comes to thinking algorithmically and as a programmer. But if you are in this field, learning never stops and most of the technologies I work with today I learned by myself.

This field excites me because we get to be creative every day and the community is amazing. We can do anything, even solutions that can change the world and we can have an instant reach to millions of people around the world.

What languages/technologies do you have the most experience in?

I am currently developing for mobile platforms, so I work with iOS and Android. Those would be my top 2 at the moment.

What are you currently learning/practising?

Besides keeping up to date with iOS development, I am focusing a big part of my time on learning and specialising in Augmented Reality.

What are your favourite resources to learn/stay updated on tech?

I really enjoy my personalised Google Alert on the tech trends I am following and I can recommend it to anybody, it is very easy to setup. Besides that, I am subscribed to different newsletters and I watch videos from tech conferences.

What would people learn about by following you?

My Instagram account is a combination of tech tips, news and lifestyle in Dubai as a woman in tech.

What inspired you to start sharing your experiences on social media?

The community! You can inspire and get inspired and that is incredible. I try to encourage people to get into tech because even though it is not an easy field, it is very exciting, fun and rewarding.

How can we get in touch with you?

?Feel free to send me a DM on Instagram, but please keep in mind I don’t have the time to build your app ideas ?. I am trying to be as helpful as I can but I kindly remind people if they have a question to be specific and direct.
